Accepting High School Credits
It used to be that a small percentage of students elected to earn credit away from their own high school, either through summer school in another district or through one of a handful of recognized correspondence schools. However, everything's changing! With dual enrollment and Internet-based instruction, increasingly, students will expect that credit earned at other institutions be applied to their high school program. The North Central Association (NCA) strongly encourages you to be proactive on this issue.
First, NCA accreditation standards are very clear that you (you can designate counselors to make this approval for you) must pre-approve a student’s request to earn credits through summer school in other districts, correspondence schools, Internet-based instruction or through dual enrollment programs at local
colleges or universities. This standard is very important as it helps you protect your students from taking
substandard courses.
